Pastoralist communities in Samburu depend directly on healthy rangelands for grazing, water access, and mobility. Climate change has intensified droughts, degraded pasture, and disrupted traditional land-use patterns, placing pressure on livelihoods, food security, and social cohesion.
Usawa Space Organization works with pastoralist communities to strengthen climate resilience through locally grounded awareness, adaptation, and environmental stewardship initiatives. Our work recognizes that climate justice in rangeland contexts is inseparable from land access, mobility, and community knowledge systems.
We promote drought-resistant crops, efficient grazing systems, and rangeland restoration practices to protect the environment while sustaining food production.
We train Indigenous youth and leaders on climate justice, empowering them to participate in national and global climate platforms.
